- Travel one side of the street -don’t cross back and forth.
- Make sure your costume does not drag on the ground.
- Remove masks when traveling from house to house.
- Use reflective tape or armbands.
- Only go to lighted houses.

- Do not sample treats until parents inspect them.
- Use makeup rather than masks when possible.

For Parents
- Feed your children dinner before they go out.
- Give them quarters to call home if necessary.
- An adult should accompany young children.
- Children should travel in groups and observe ‘buddy system’.
- Costumes should be made of flame retardant material.
- If not accompanying children know the route they are taking.
- Inspect treats to ensure they have not been tampered.
- Discard any treats with torn wrapping.
- Whenever possible encourage your children to attend community sponsored events or parties.
For Treat Givers
- Clear your yard of any debris that could cause accidental falls.
- If you have stairs you can light them with small pumpkins or flashlights to prevent falls.
- Dogs are generally frightened by this event, so ensure that your dog is restrained when trick or treaters arrive.
- If you are driving, travel slowly and take care when backing out of driveways.
