- - Carry a flashlight
- - Use the sidewalks; if there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic.
- - Look both ways when crossing streets & driveways.
- - Travel one side of the street -don't cross back and forth.
- - Make sure your costume does not drag on the ground.
- - Remove masks when traveling from house to house.
- - Use reflective tape or armbands.
- - Only go to lighted houses.
- - Do not approach strange animals.
- - Do not sample treats until parents inspect them.
- - Use makeup rather than masks when possible.
- - Stay in a familiar neighbourhood.
- - Feed your children dinner before they go out.
- - Give them quarters to call home if necessary.
- - An adult should accompany young children.
- - Children should travel in groups and observe 'buddy system'.
- - Costumes should be made of flame retardant material.
- - If not accompanying children know the route they are taking.
- - Inspect treats to ensure they have not been tampered.
- - Discard any treats with torn wrapping.
- - Whenever possible encourage your children to attend community sponsored events or parties.
- - Clear your yard of any debris that could cause accidental falls.
- - If you have stairs you can light them with small pumpkins or flashlights to prevent falls.
- - Dogs are generally frightened by this event, so ensure that your dog is restrained when trick or treaters arrive.
- - If you are driving, travel slowly and take care when backing out of driveways.
The Spooky Wagon Ride may be cancelled during inclement weather. If it is
